Moving forwards

Just thought I would drop in and do another update to the blog as we come to the end of the year. The animation that my animation partner Jon and I have been working on is almost coloured. Going forward after this project I have decided I will commit myself to doing more 3D animation as I seem to be limited with my 2D work in terms of employability options.
Jon and I also spoke about doing another project but this time setting each other a brief with storyboards and story and the other must complete it, which I thought was quite a neat idea.
I may try to get one more post before the end of the year. When the year started, I commited myself to making more posts on the blog and I haven't let myself down, having posted on 7 out of 12 months for the year. Not bad at all!

Food Doggy intro

I have now completed the intro to "Food Doggy" and have completed all the animation work. My co-animator Jon is still working on his own scenes and I will continue to work on the scene colouring. Below is the final animation and colouring of the intro, though the music used may still be changed for something else.

Final Pirate design!

A lot has been happening over the last few months as I have been working on numerous different projects including the Meatballs cartoon and a new short story.

The female lioness character below, with her pet snake, will be my final contribution to the Pirate villain crew. What I will do next is digital colour these characters.

For the meantime, I will be refocusing on "Food Doggy" and getting it completed within the month. I have recently completed the intro to the project and will post that above.

More Pirates!

Alongside working on my new animation "Meatballs" (below) I have also been coming up with new character designs, and it is Pirates (yet again!) The crew I'm building are more of a villain crew, and I picture them as the antagonists to my first crew. I will eventually get around to digitally colouring these then who knows, maybe I will develop things further with a one off comic.

This is the Captain of the crew, and Captain Avery's nemesis.

This character (Amarog) is highly powerful and surprisingly fast.

This character is called Simi. He isn't the most skilled fighter, however, due to his ability to climb and his speed, he makes himself a powerful contender.

I think of this character as a total wild card, borderline psychopath.

Here we have the protagonists crew.

Drawing challenge complete!

Well I finally did it, I reached 31 drawings (actually I overshot the runway and ended up with about 33. I have posted the rest of the designs below.

I have also started animating my next project with the dog and I have roughed out about 22 seconds of animation so far and I must admit it is looking pretty sweet.

My next update will most likely be in a month or so when the animation has been completed.

The drawing continues!

i am still continuing with my daily character designs and I am up to 25 drawings so only a further 6 to go. In terms of animation myself and Jon have come up our new character and have a story. I have roughed out my first scene and will be starting in the next few days!

Character Design challenge!

I am still continuing to work on the project mentioned in the last post. However, I have also decided to take up a 31 day character design challenge. This is exactly how it sounds, I will design a new character each day. I am already 14 days into the challenge and I have started to find it difficult, you don't quite realise how often you repeat elements in your designs until you do a challenge like this. I have found that I've had to go out my comfort zone and draw character types that I normally don't do much of, non-anthropomorphic animals and female characters.

I will post my progress so far for now and will post another update with the final 17 designs.

We have our new project!!

After some hours of work on coming up with a new storyline, we have developed the basic structure for our next animated project, currently named Meatballs at this early stage. We have developed character sheets for the main character (below) and have almost completed initial storyboards. Animation will begin within the next week.

Bring on the next project!!

I have been meaning to log on and update the blog on my latest project which was completed shortly after the last post. Below we have the finished project, a 12 hour animation project that snowballed into a several week project.

I will be joining together with fellow animator Jon to work on another project tomorrow and so will strive to post as many updates here as I can. At this monent in time I have no idea what the next project could be as tomorrows meeting will be an idea session. I will post what we have decided in due course.

Latest Developments

I've been working on a few projects lately, and as mentioned in my previous post I have been working on a piece with a friend involving a Salt & Pepper shaker. That project is almost completed and we will soon be moving onto dubbing it before releasing for the world to see.

As mentioned, I have had a number of different projects and recently picked up some extra freelance work from Sean at SPC Gaming who wanted a logo design completed which I have attached here now finished.

My next post on here will be the final output of the salt and pepper project and afterwards I will consider what project is next.

Fun Project to come!

I recently got together with an animation friend and we decided we would meet up much more often to come up with idea for short animations and create them to keep the creative juices flowing. After our first session, we came up with an interesting little idea and set to work. We are now working on it during our spare time and will have it completed fairly soon.

Updates!

So, as previously posted, I have some ideas for a new project that I have been developing recently and have been working on the main character. After much toil I have finally completed my first, albeit still rough, character sheet for the project. The character is still without a name at the moment but as I start to develop him further I will come up with a suitable name.

I will continue working on the sheets for the character until I am fully happy with them. After that I will progress into creating him digitally. I also plan to create an animation with a previous monkey character I designed named Rufus to get back into the swing of animating before continuing with this project.

Wow! Has it really been almost 2 years?

The year has started like all other years before it, with a resolution. One of my many resolutions for 2017 has been to update the blog again and much more often. Seeing as the last post I made in 2015 was in relation to my pirate character designs, I have decided to kick start this years posts with an update on the pirates. I have designed another two characters for the crew since my last post and can now proudly share them below. I am currently developing a character for an animation which I hope to have completed over the next few months and I will post any updates here.
